Vivian Hsu's Top 5 Beauty Secrets

Updated: Jul 14, 2018

Mention the name Vivian Hsu, chances are if you grew up with Mandopop and Taiwanese entertainment, you can't help but recall that Vivian barely looks any different than when she first started her career at the age of 15.

Now aged 43 years old, Vivian continues to stun the world with her ageless looks, earning her international admiration for her timeless beauty. Who wouldn't be in awe? She doesn't look a day over 20.

Thankfully enough, she has been kind enough to let us in on her beauty secrets. Let's take a look at the following list now, shall we?

Optimistic mindset

In Vivian's point of view, holistic beauty is of vital importance if one wishes to maintain their looks. To her, holistic beauty comprises of three components; skin, mood and figure. Therefore, if one neglects any of these three aspects, they will struggle to maintain their looks.

“Women can’t just care for their skin, they also need to maintain their mood and figure because all three things are connected,” she said.

She does, however, place special emphasis on having an optimistic mindset. So the next time you hit a particularly rough patch? Try to find something positive about it! You'll find that this mindset will not only help you lead a less stressful life, those dreaded wrinkles will be kept at bay as well.

Regular exercise

Remember what Vivian said about holistic beauty? Exercise is an excellent way to maintain our looks without busting our wallets, and yet it is something that many of us neglect to do. Which is a shame, really. It's like getting just about everything that is promised to you by expensive skincare products- but for free.

Plus, exercise increases blood flow to the skin, and this in turn promotes a healthy, glowing complexion. Who wouldn't want that?

Adequate sleep

We've heard it time and time again that we need our beauty sleep- by our parents, our friends, our nosy neighbours, and now, Vivian Hsu. Because it's true.

According to dermatologists, our skin requires precious downtime in order to repair itself, and when exactly does this reparation occur? Primarily whilst we are fast asleep. So the next time you're thinking of hitting the hay late, remember that you're doing so at the risk of accelerating the ageing process. Glamorous? Not really, so if you haven't already started on it, now might be a good time to really start packing in those glorious Zzz's.

Drink lots of water

“Staying hydrated is crucial in Singapore especially, as air-conditioned rooms can cause dry skin,” Vivian said, as she is now based in Singapore.

Whether you have dry skin or oily skin, it is important to down those eight cups of water everyday. This is because if you don't drink enough water, you may become dehydrated. This means your skin will experience flakiness and is much more prone to forming fine lines, which can lead to wrinkles. Want to ensure your skin looks plump and youthful? Drink water.

Proper skincare

Last but not least, is proper skincare. We all know the drill. When it comes to caring for our skin, Vivian emphasizes the importance of cleansing, moisturising, removing makeup and applying facial masks. And when asked about her favourite skincare range, Vivian answered that she is a fan of the Bio-essence 24K Bio Gold series.

She has stated that as she gets older, her skin regeneration isn't as fast as it used to be. Therefore, in order to fulfill the heightened needs that her skin now requires, she turns to the 24K Bio Gold series, which is a product that is specifically designed to defy signs of ageing. Interesting.

There you go. Vivian's top 5 beauty secrets! What do you think? I don't know about you, but I think I'm going to start adopting these into my beauty routine. ;)
