Staycations for Your Last Minute Year End Travels with Your Friends

by Sara Soo. |

It's that time of the year again! After a year's worth of hard work and hustle, it is time to treat yourself to a little break and get away for a bit! For myself, travelling is one of the best ways to release stress and take a step back from my hectic schedules. It gives me time to reflect on my goals and I always come back refreshed with a new perspective on life. Every year, I make an effort to plan at least one trip with a group of friends and my loved ones as I believe spending quality time is a great way to strengthen the bond between us.

Although going on a trip sounds like loads of fun, it also comes with proper planning as to ensure that all parties' needs are met and so that you can make the most of your time. To help you take a load off your shoulders in planning your next trip, here is a list of staycation spots that you can check out!

1. Lexus Hibuscus, Port Dickson

Designed with villas that are built on stilts that branch out into the ocean, wake up each morning to the sound of crashing waves. Utter bliss awaits you as you step out onto your balcony and are greeted with the ocean! The villas are built to collectively create a hibiscus shape and the resort offers bicycles for rent for you to explore the place. Each room/suite is equipped with a mini private pool so you and your friends can enjoy it all to yourselves.

2. Sekeping Serendah, Selangor

This dreamlike staycation bungalow is located an hour's drive away from Kuala Lumpur. Suitable for larger groups of friends, enjoy the whole house to yourselves as you take a dip in the large swimming pool or bask in the lush greeneries and warmth of the natural sunlight that fills the place. You can also cook up a storm with barbecue facilities available on-site! Great for a chill holiday and being close to nature!

3. The Sticks, Fraser's Hills

If you want something even closer to nature but don't want to give up the comfort of electricity and a proper bed, try glamping at The Sticks, Fraser's Hill. Be refreshed by the cool breeze and enjoy home cooked meals that are prepared each day. At the sticks, you will be staying in a 'tendok', an endearingly unique mesh of the words 'tent' and 'pondok' where you will be able to experience rustic vibes while not sacrificing modern essentials.

4. Time Capsule Resort, Pahang

Still staying close to nature, another place you can opt for is Time Capsule Resort. It's unique tubular shaped rooms that look like capsules make for interesting Instagram photos and a cool experience! This spot is especially popular for couples who want a quiet weekend away or groups of friends who want to spend quality time together without having the distractions of the city!

5. KL Journal, Kuala Lumpur

If you want a getaway that offers you tranquillity yet still remaining in the city centre, try out Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel! Famously known for its swimming pool area, aptly named "The Swimming Club", hotel guests and even non-guests can enjoy some light snacks and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at this rooftop area. It is adorned with colourful beach lounge chairs and bright pink walls complete with neon lights, this spot offers a perfect place to chill and taking loads of photos!

Now that we've laid out a variety of choices for you, get to planning and packing your bags for your next getaway! At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter which place you've picked. What's most important is the time you spend bonding with your loved ones and having quality time with the ones closest to you.
