#MyMalaysiaMyHome: Of Change, Hopes & Dreams

Updated: Jan 28, 2019

If there is one thing you can change about Malaysia, what would it be?

This is a hard one because there’s so much that I want to change about Malaysia but also a lot that I don’t want to. Malaysia is just so unique in so many ways from our diversity and unity to our food and culture. However, the one thing that I would want to change about Malaysia or rather, Malaysians, is actually our irresponsible behaviour towards public facilities. I’m going to spare you about the toilets as I would like to shed some light on the condition of public parks in Kuala Lumpur. I went to KLCC Park for a picnic the other day and I couldn't help but feel proud of how clean and well-maintained it is, but then I remembered just how unkept some parks around KL that aren’t exactly tourist attractions are. Some parks are just so horrifying (like the one near my neighbourhood) that folks around town tell ghost stories regarding them. So, I hope that Malaysians would come to realise that it is our responsibility to care for these amazing facilities that the government has given us.

What do you hope for Malaysia?

As an avid dreamer in her senior year of high school, I hope that Malaysia will be a country of educated youths. I hope that the youths of Malaysia will be able to become a group of opinionated and respectable people who aren’t afraid to speak up for what’s right. I hope that the youths of Malaysia can come together to bring a positive change to our tanah air.
