Local Malaysian Fashion Brands That Won't Break Your Bank
by Sara Soo. |
We all love a good steal when it comes to shopping and if you are a fellow shopaholic, the word "sale", "discount" and "affordable" definitely excites you more than anything in the world. While international brands like H&M, Forever 21, Uniqlo, Cotton On and more have made their name quite well-known here, we hardly get to see local brands share the same type of spotlight as these brands do.
If you would love to start looking for great items that are made or created by our fellow Malaysians, here is a list to help you get started. Here, we will be highlighting some of the local brands that offer quality products without actually costing a bomb!
Image: Bash Clothing
Price range: RM18 - RM60
I personally love shopping from Bash mainly because the clothes that they sell are right up my alley. Not only do they offer some of the latest trends in the market but they also stick to some classic favourites that are seemingly timeless in style. They range from dresses to blouses, skirts, pants, shorts, accessories and even some homeware. BASH Clothing also gives their buyers a wide variety of choices from casual outfits to more glamorous ones with their special collection of stunning ball gowns. If you do end up getting some of their clothes, do tag them on their specially made Instagram account @bashgirlsdoitbetter where you could be featured!
Price range: RM50 - RM80
Yet another women's fashion brand, Summerveil also offers a mix of girly outfits and casual clothes and even suitable office attire. Summerveil's store is updated on a regular basis and each collection brings in different types of clothes that you can mix and match. On average, prices range from RM50 - RM80 depending on the style and popularity of the item. With many designs available, shop till you drop and go crazy picking out your outfits for date night, girls night out, vacation, festive seasons and more!
Image: Havan Clothing
Price range: RM12 - RM49
With an apt tagline that says "Fashion With A Purpose", Havan Clothing is a brand that specialises in cute graphic t-shirts that are designed by children who live in shelter homes. The creative team at Havan Clothing take each child's drawing and turn them into unique little designs on t-shirts. Their purpose is simple: with each item that is sold, part of the earnings go to sustain the Havan Program in various shelter homes. The money aids in hiring teachers, buying basic learning tools, stationeries and even field trips for the children. You can shop for a cause!
Price range: RM8 - RM40
Every fashionista out there knows that no outfit is complete without a little bling. Complete your outfit with a touch of bling from vow.hous. Operating solely on Instagram and Shopee, this boutique jewellery company has a range of earrings, necklaces and hair clips with different styles from florals to cute cartoon-look shapes and more.

Price range: RM25 onwards
Another notable jewellery shop to note is Vulcania Collection. Specialising in nautical themed jewellery, Vulcania Collection offers shiny and elegant pieces made from 925 Sterling Silver and 18k Gold Plating. Inspired by our fellow friends who live under the sea, Vulcania Collection appeals to those who love the beach and offers a little piece that one can wear to remind them of the ocean. On top of that they also have trendy hair clips made with different jewels and pearls that will add a nice accessory to your look!
Image: Fame Cosmetics
Price range: RM29 - RM50
Started out by 3 fellow Malaysian bloggers, Fame Cosmetics was created out of a common love and passion for beauty products. Created to fit different skin tones, Fame Cosmetics offers an inclusive range of mascaras, lip creams, eyeliner, blushes and more. If you are interested in trying out their products before purchasing them, you can actually find their physical stores in 4 locations: Berjaya Times Square, SOGO Kuala Lumpur, Fahrenheit 88 and Paradigm Mall Johor.
Hopefully with this list of curated local brands, you can kickstart your fashion experience with a local twist! At the end of the day, fashion is not really what kind of brands you wear or how expensive your items are, but how you rock it with confidence!
