Updated: Sep 7

by Eunice Liew |

Imagine staying home on a cold and rainy day, inhaling the rich aroma of your favourite soup wafting through the kitchen and holding a warm bowl of steaming goodness in both hands.

The easiest, most versatile and comforting dish to prepare at home. Soup. It just makes me feel so warm and happy every time I get to prepare this hearty dish for my family.

Therefore, I would like to share 7 of my favourite comfort soup recipes that you can try for yourself too.

(Do keep in mind that you can always freeze the leftover soup to enjoy the next day. This makes for a more flavourful dish as all the flavours soak into the soup).

1. Easy Homemade Vegetable Soup

This super easy vegetable soup isn’t just healthy, it could serve as a vegan dish as well. Just replace the chicken broth with vegetable broth and you’ve got yourself a vegan-friendly meal.

This soup is super filling as it is packed full of veggies and can serve as a meal all by itself! You could even add in some pasta or noodles to your liking.

Literally the easiest go-to soup ever invented, amirite?

Chicken soup is normally served to people who are down with the flu or just feeling under the weather. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t try this simple yet delicious recipe while you’re feeling perfectly healthy! This dish is perfect as a late-morning hangover meal as well!

My little tip for you, grind in some black pepper to get that extra kick of hot, peppery flavour.

5. Classic Tomato Soup

If you’re looking for something rich and creamy, yet guilt-free and healthy, this is the soup you would want to make.

It’s way easier to make than the usual tomato soup because this recipe only calls for canned tomatoes. However, don’t let that put you off, as this tomato soup tastes just as if it were made from fresh tomatoes.

What makes this soup so special is that it is a healthier version of your usual tomato soup, yet its texture is just as rich and creamy.

6. Vietnamese Noodle Soup

I decided to add in a beef noodle soup because what is soup without some springy noodles to pair it with?

This recipe I share tastes like authentic Vietnamese pho; serve this up during your next family get-together or dinner date with friends, and this would be the crowd favourite. You can thank me for that later.

7. Malaysian ABC Soup

And last but not least, the nostalgic Malaysian ABC soup.

I love this soup so much because it brings back so much fond memories of my childhood when times were simpler and all we had to worry about was who would get the biggest chunk of chicken in their soup.

If you want to take a walk down memory lane, this family-favourite ABC soup would be perfect to make for your own family.

Add a little sprinkle of love into this dish and trust me, your family would be swooning over this all-time favourite soup.

Spread the love with this perfect yet simple recipe.

All in all, these recipes would work well regardless of whether you’re looking for something simple and comforting to enjoy by yourself, or something pho-nominal to wow your friends and family with. With that being said, go make yourself a soup-erb meal and don’t be afraid to switch things up to your preference!
