6 Weird Holidays Coming up in April
Updated: Aug 6, 2018
It’s always interesting to learn about different cultures and traditions all over the world. For instance, holidays. We all know there are lots of whacky holidays around the globe, but did you know there is a couple of weird ones coming up next month? The majority are in USA, and they are certainly worthy of mention.
Here are the ones that came up on my radar:
National Pet Day
More cute than weird, National Pet Day is an unofficial holiday that encourages us to shower animals with an extra dose of love. Whether it is our pets (as the name so obviously states) or those that are in need of adoption, they are all deserving of love. After all, they do, or in the case of those without owners, would do the same for us every day- and with much gusto. It is only fair to return the favour.

Grilled Cheese Day
Perhaps the most delicious day of the year, Grilled Cheese Day is a day that – you guessed it – celebrates the deliciousness that is grilled cheese. Mm, mmm. Is your mouth watering already? To celebrate this rightfully glorious day, all you have to do is fix up a grilled cheese sandwich for yourself. If you want to take things further, you can always have a grilled cheese sandwich party with your friends.
WHEN AND WHERE: 12th April, United States of America
Wear Pajamas to Work Day
Without a doubt the easiest day of the year to celebrate, Wear Pajamas to Work Day is essentially a day that you can spend all day in your pajamas. Can’t be bothered to get dressed for work? Skip it! Just wear the beloved pajamas you woke up in and head on over to work. Wear Pajamas to Work Day is the perfect excuse to lounge around in comfy clothes.
WHEN AND WHERE: 16th April, United States of America
National High Five Day
In need of a high five? National High Five Day is the day to do it! National High Five Day is the day when the high five is celebrated, to show appreciation for the unique palm strike that is used for greetings, celebrations or to congratulate someone.
WHEN AND WHERE: 19th April (this year), United States of America
Lima Bean Respect Day
One of the weirder holidays on this list, Lima Bean Respect Day is an unofficial holiday that is meant to show appreciation for the lima bean. This bean is supposedly rich in fiber, potassium, iron and manganese. Which, if you ask me, sounds like a heck of a good reason to celebrate this bean. Time to load up on some lima beans!
WHEN AND WHERE: 20th April, United States of America
International Dance Day
You read that right, there is a day dedicated entirely to dancing! Believing that dancing is a language that transcends borders and cultural barriers, the International Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute created this holiday to increase the public profile of dancing as an art form. Like we need an excuse to get our groove on, amirite. So if you feel like dancing with your pals, this is the day to do it!
