5 Simple Ways To Boost Your Immunity Despite Having A Busy Lifestyle
With all the chaos around the Coronavirus Outbreak, it’s hard not to feel worried about the well-being of both others and our own. Everyone’s being cautious, getting paranoid when your colleague next to you starts sneezing and you wonder: “OMG. Is he / she okay? I don’t want to fall sick.”
Aside from the outbreak, we also know how it feels; you often find yourself on Google or WebMD figuring out if you’ve caught on to a bug by matching up the symptoms you currently have and constantly wonder why you’re feeling tired. all. the. time.
Chances are, you know deep down inside that your immunity is probably on the down-low and it’s why you’re worried about falling sick. But instead of worrying, let’s focus on what you can do to strengthen it.
But of course, building your immunity is definitely not something that can be done overnight. It’s something you should consistently work on:
1. Stay hydrated and more importantly, have enough rest
I’m sure we’ve heard this way too many times but we’re sorry to break it to you again, it’s pretty much the most essential step on your journey to strengthening your immune system.
Like the engine in your car, which requires a fresh oil change every once in a while to keep things running smooth, so do you!
And what is that magical substance you might ask? Well, water of course! Commonly available, yet often forgotten. So remember, drink up! Drinking enough fluids will allow you to function better because water not only helps to carry oxygen throughout your body, it also flushes out the bad toxins.
Sufficient rest is also as important because sleep deprivation stresses your body because of lethargy.
2. Sweat it off!
Another way to get rid of the toxins from your body is to exercise. It’s the heat your body produces while exercising that kills the pathogens and regulates your body.
But... that last run you had last month doesn’t really count! We know it can be difficult to find time to exercise consistently. To help keep you accountable, find a simple home workout that you like and try your best to work out at least 2 to 3 times a week.
3. Load up on Vitamin C
It’s the best immunity booster of all vitamins out there and that’s why it’s so commonly known and available.
Why so? Because it’s high in antioxidants to regenerate cells and helps to enhance the absorbency of iron which would aid in overall blood circulation. A simple and convenient way to incorporate vitamin C into your diet would be in an effervescent form like Redoxon.
If you’re not a believer on relying solely on supplements, you could opt to eat fruits like lemons, oranges and even leafy greens such as spinach, cabbage or even broccoli.
4. Improve your gut health
As much as we try our best to eat better, some of us have lower immunity compared to others. If you find yourself in this category, one of the potential reasons could be due to poor gut health. Our gut acts as the core of our immunity system and a gateway to regulating particles; passing through the intestinal lining to the rest of your body. If you have leaky or poor gut health, this will then affect your overall immunity.
A way to improve your gut health is to include probiotics in your diet. By consuming foods that contain probiotics, you’re introducing good bacteria to your system. Foods like fermented food (kimchi, pickles), yoghurt or drinks like kombucha and kefir are great sources of probiotics.
5. Overcome your mental fatigue
Last but not least, another thing that could contribute to strengthening your immunity would be to combat your mental fatigue as well.
Although we try our best to ‘avoid stress’, it is sometimes unavoidable during hectic periods. Long hours of studying, facing the laptop or your phone, attending back-to-back meetings and even your daily commute to work bracing through traffic - these are stress points which will eventually stress your body over time due to mental fatigue.
And what do we do when that happens? Coffee of course!
Well, hold on there.

Instead, try consuming chicken essence like Brands Essence Chicken. This would help in boosting your overall mental state and you wouldn’t feel as tired. We know it doesn’t taste the best; a tip would be to drink it warm or hot instead of room temperature, and you can even add it into your soup for extra flavour. An added bonus from this would be mitigating that peaky caffeine crash!
There are, of course, many other ways to strengthen your immunity but we hope that these tips are simple enough for you to incorporate in your busy lifestyle. Don’t take your mental and physical health for granted!
